Don’t you just love it when a makeup product is able to perform more than one job well? Makeup can be a lot of fun to play around with, what with the multitude of colours, finishes and all. Like how we mix and match different clothing pieces to create incredibly fashionable outfits, using one makeup product in multiple different ways to create a variety of looks can be equally interesting.
Not only will you get to make the most of your money by making your makeup multitask, but you can also save money and some space in your makeup pouch as well. Check out these 4 alternative ways to get your makeup to perform double duty!
1. Eyeshadow as eyeliner
Most people get black or brown eyeliners because they are the standard colours that everyone should have, but sometimes, we just want to have some fun with the wide variety of colours that eyeshadows typically come in. Get your eyeliner brush, wet it (with water, eye cream or eye primer) and dip into your eyeshadow to create your own custom eyeliner! The wet brush helps to compact and darken the pigments in the powdered eyeshadow to create a sharp lined look
2. Eyeliner as eyeshadow
Cover your eyelids with white eyeliner to create an even base for the shadow to go on (like creating a clean canvas) and the colours will definitely “pop” better. This is especially useful for eyeshadows that aren’t that pigmented. Black eyeliner is also an awesome way to get your eye makeup done quickly. Line your eyes a little thicker than usual and smudge the edges of the liner before the eyeliner “sets”, then dab an eyeshadow from the middle of your lid and blend with the smudged liner. With the eyeliner already applied as the base, you could even skip applying liner or another time.
3. Mascara as eyeliner
In a worst case scenario where your eyeliner has run out, or in any situation where you have to get ready in a flash without any eyeliner, your mascara can save the day! You can apply your mascara really close to the lash line and sort of wiggle it against the skin to create a smudged line, then lightly brush through the line with your finger. Or use a brush and drag it along the mascara wand, then apply it like your usual liner on the top lid, not waterline.
4. Lipstick as blush
Lipsticks and lip tints may be made for your lips, but that doesn’t mean that it cannot multitask! If you are looking to add some colour to your face but have no blush on hand, you can just use lipstick and it can still function well as a cream blush. Use your finger to dab a small amount of lipstick (or lip tint) on your cheeks and blend well, adding more product if needed, to create that perfectly natural flush!
