Fans of Korean dramas don’t just love to watch them for the storylines (or lack thereof), addictive soundtracks, handsome leading men, and impeccably cool fashion styles, but also to take note of the makeup styles of their leading ladies. One common trend that has been spotted is having radiant, dewy skin that looks like they’re not wearing any makeup. And trust us, that kind of look isn’t just about going crazy with highlighter. Though it may seem tough to achieve that “no-makeup” makeup look at first, we have assembled these four easy tips for you to try it out!
1. Hydrating Mist
The first step to this look is hydration. After cleansing your face, lightly spray a facial mist on your face and without patting dry, apply your fave moisturiser on top. This should be done before any makeup goes on your face, but you can also spray some facial mist in between your layers of foundation for extra hydration. Not only does it help with instantly perking up the skin, but also helps to give that plumped up “healthy” look.
2. Prime Your Skin
There is a fine line between radiant skin and oil overload. To prevent too much unwanted shine at the end of the day, your skin needs to be prepped with a primer that can absorb excess oil and help the foundation adhere better to the skin, allowing it to stay matte longer.
3. Mix It Up
Mix a lightweight serum or essence (or if you don’t have those, then even eye cream can be used) into your base foundation in a 1-to-1 ratio. If your skin is feeling dry that day, mix in more serum or essence. Do this on the back of your hand or on your palm so that your body heat can melt and mix the products together better. And take note that this method can help to thin out foundations with thicker consistencies, making them more sheer and easier to apply. You can apply the foundation using a damp sponge (we love the Beauty Blender) or a brush for application.
4. Setting It All
The final step is ensuring that all that makeup is locked in. While powders are the usual choice for setting makeup, it can be quite tough to apply it sparingly without easily ruining the radiance that you have painstakingly created. So get a setting spray and spritz a generous amount all over your face and let it dry for extra-long wear throughout the day!
