Sunshine, clear skies, sandy beaches and pristine waters — these are just a few of the things we love about countries with perpetual summer. If you’re an inhabitant of a tropical nation, do the good work and pass this article along to a friend living in cooler climates.
However, if you’re far too excited to pack and have no time to be making laundry lists of items to pack, here’s a handy list:
Long Dresses
Nothing screams “tropical holiday vacay” like a breezy floral dress. Body-hugging yet light enough to prevent you from breaking into an ungainly sweat, a maxi dress is sultry, feminine and magical. Throw on a wide brim hat, a pair of classic black sunglasses and you’re good to roam the sunny streets of Spain or sandy beaches of Bali.
Sundresses
Cute and comfortable, sundresses are an ideal companion for humid and sticky climates. If you’re planning a casual day of shopping and sightseeing, flitting around in a pretty sundress is an excellent way to beat the heat. A short lace sundress, coupled with a pair of pastel sneakers and a handy-sling bag is all you need for your sojourn.
Jumpsuits
Another summer staple, full-length cotton jumpsuits are airy and effortless. Don’t feel like dolling up? No problem, just insert yourself into an outfit which fully encapsulates a blouse and trousers. They’re perfect for a day/night out in the city and are appropriate for visits to sensitive venues such as places of worship or memorials.
Shorts
If your wardrobe consists mostly of cute tops and you don’t feel in the mood to sport long pants or a lengthy jumpsuit, why not slip into a pair of shorts? Snug and heat-proof, shorts make sense if you’re going to be spending a day suntanning at the beach (and are too shy to rock a bikini), or undertaking sporty activities such as hiking, you might want to pack more than a few pairs of shorts.
Cardigans
Before you knock the suggestion, consider carrying a cardigan along (not the woollen wear!) for protection. You never know when the climate may take a turn for the worse and turn windy. A light floral cardigan can serve as interim protection against sudden wind or rain, especially if you’re wearing a sleeveless outfit.
Which of these clothing items will have a place in your suitcase? Let us know in the comments below!
