Over here at ZALORA, we’ve been anticipating what’s going to be hot next year in terms of colours, prints and styles. Here’s a heads-up from our side, so that you always stay in the know about the happenings of the fashion world. Use this as a handy guide to carry out some much needed spring cleaning. Say goodbye to outdated fashion trends, and say hello to the good stuff that 2017 will bring.
1. Several shades of grey:
Ah, the classic grey. Steely and business-like, grey is a colour you should play with if power dressing is something you’ve always wanted to experiment with. Yet if grey is a colour you’re looking to incorporate into your daily wardrobe, its hybrid hues allow it to be matched with several other colours such as pink, blue, green and still not look mismatched.
2. As white as snow:
White sneakers were all the rage this year, so why not a fully white wardrobe? Donning an all white ensemble allows you to experiment with crazy colours in terms of accessories, shoes, and makeup. Wear a heavily bejewelled neckpiece with your white dress, or team up a pair of vibrant, patterned shoes with your white suit.
3. Block that colour:
Whoever says that you can’t wear two colours on the same outfit has clearly never heard of colour blocking. In order for colour blocking to really work, two vibrant shades from the opposite ends of the colour wheel must paired together. To achieve a slimmer look, choose a darker hue for the part of the clothing which covers most of your body, or at least your torso.
4. Your childhood on print:
Cartoon prints were pretty big this year. Step up your graphic game by investing in skirts, blouses and dresses with crazy sketches and wacky calligraphy. Abstract caricature prints add a defiant, punk feel to your overall look. People will have no choice but to sit up and take note if you walk around with a giant print of Robin emblazoned across your shirt.
