Pilling On The Print

ZALORA X HOW DO I LOOK

Enter this Fall with a new attitude of anything-goes as you double up on prints and patterns. It’s safe to say that prints are key — from classic nautical stripes, polka-dots, patch-work, paisley prints, leopard print…. the list goes on. This season, it’s all about doubling and tripling up on the prints so go wild!

Vivid, graphic patterns swirled across the collections at Dior and Pucci sent everyone into a daze, while over at Burberry Prorsum, Christopher Bailey piled colour, print and texture together — resulting in a boho haze of brilliance. Mary Katrantzou reminds us of her reigning ‘Queen Of Print’ title by sending models down the catwalk in sleeveless blazer-dresses that had meshed-up textures — including plastic, fur and bathing-cap rubber; completely nuts but also pure genius.

A matching two-piece is the perfect introductory to wearing top-to-toe print when you’re feeling bold. Both a floral skirt and matching tee or pant suit work well when it comes to doubling up on the print. Pairing with a simple sneaker will bring a more casual vibe to the look. If you’re feeling a little shy, go down the route of Jonathan Saunders and break things up with a touch of retro colour blocking — a larger print won’t feel as intrusive and in-your-face — or go for a printed pantsuit worn with a plain tee underneath to break up the print.

Follow these three easy suggestions when wearing print on print.

1. Match at least one colour within the different prints.

2. Keep shoes and accessories simple.

3. Keep makeup neutral — a swish of lippy at most.
