ZALORA X HOW DO I LOOK

The past year we’ve experienced the revival of the swinging 60’s and the free loving 70’s, and now the rocking 80’s are back. See the revival of the 80’s as the traditional rock chic’s older sister — more glamour and sequins but with an effortlessly cool and carefree vibe. All paired with big shoulders and tiny waists, the latter being something of no issue for any hardcore rock chic who spends the majority of her time moshing in a pit.

This season Jonathan Anderson led the way with new wave combinations of rainbow colour combos and oversized wraparounds which would do Grace Jones proud, whilst over at Missoni, power shoulders and pleated orange organza took us right back to the decade of Bananarama and Wham! Giving us the super traditional rock chic glamour that no groupie would be seen without was Alexander Wang who provided the leather-on-leather whilst Marc Jacob had the models wearing silk neck-ties and black eye-lined wings whilst oozing that rock’n’roll vibe.

Kate Moss, Debbie Harris, Gwen Stefani are three typical rock chic gurus whilst Madonna and Vivienne Westwood give a more 80’s twist on the rock chic look. Leather pants, ripped knits, power shoulders, dark nail varnish and walk-all-over-me boots are wardrobe must-have pieces for any rock chic no matter the era or style icon. Adding a shimmer of sequin or nipped in waist will only accentuate that rock chic glamour every girl needs for a weekday pick-me-up.

Our three key points to ensure you are a Rock Chic Goddess:

1. Leather, leather, leather. A leather jacket will only get better with age, the more battered it gets the softer the leather will become and therefore the more beautiful the jacket will be.

2. A fierce pair of ankle boots will be your outfits saving grace on many an occasion. Go for a mid height heel and don’t be worried about getting them dirty.

3. Don’t be afraid to mix and match, sometimes the unexpected is the best outfit option.
