In our sub-tropical part of the world, taking Fall/Winter cues from Paris and London is setting us up for an uncomfortable dress style. Forget the leather jackets and beige wool coats! This season is all about taking athleisure to a new level, incorporating quirky prints as well as revisiting an old favourite, androgynous fashion.
1. Activewear:
Athleisure took us by storm with big sporting labels releasing new products. Not everyone prefers outfits influenced heavily with such brands. Thus the birth of activewear! It is the incorporation of key sporting apparel while maintaining a comfortable and smart casual look. A lot of the labels do recognise this and support it through their upcoming releases A lot of the labels do recognise this and support it through their upcoming releases. Now you can look forward to Adidas YEEZY, Free Train Force Flyknits and Nike Blazer. These brands are redefining activewear through releasing comfortable sneakers catering to different communities. YEEZY for the fans of Hip Hop, Flyknits for the enthusiastic athletes and the Blazer for the dancers.
2. Prints, prints, PRINTS:
Alexander Mcqueen recently released its Indian inspired outfits for 2017. You can expect more juxtaposition between ethnic prints to hit the stores soon. Maybe now is a good time to grab some Oriental inspired outfits in time for next year’s New Year This is the year of our favourite superheroes on the big screen. Comics print and graphic shirts are slated to be a big Fall/Winter trend with everyone nerding out.
3. Androgynous Silhouettes:
This is a divergence from activewear. We would see two camps from the rise of activewear: those that prefer a loose but nice fit that signifies strength in the look versus an effeminate and oversized look. What would be big is the variation of the oversized shirt to loose, baggy pants.
4. You Da Bomb:
And Yeezy has done it again! If it was casualwear for Spring/Summer 2016, this Fall/Winter he’s given us all the gift of the bomber jacket. Designers flocked to wherever Kanye West wore his bomber jacket, and lo and behold, the bomber jacket miraculously appeared on the runways. If you feel especially cold during the chillier months of the year, invest in the all-enveloping bomber jacket.
5. (Not) The Pinkprint:
You might be slightly apprehensive of this colour, but trust us on this one. This soft, tinted pastel shade can only improve your wardrobe, and you’ll be pleasantly surprised to find that the colour pink actually makes one look great! Ignore the naysayers, and start rocking that pink shirt today.
