The ZALORA Challenge

ASIA’S NEXT TOP MODEL X ZALORA

In this week’s episode of Asia’s Next Top Model, viewers got an exclusive behind the scenes look into the world of ZALORA, Asia’s favourite online fashion destination! This week’s special episode puts the model’s styling know-how to the test, in a challenge where the models are asked to self-style themselves into a full look, based on one of summers hottest fashion trends, BOHO, BASICS, URBAN and FEMININE.

This challenge is all about owning personal style — and the models ability to style themselves in the current fashion theme that is given to them. ZALORA’s own Creative Director, Meg Mistry joined Asia’s Next Top Model mentor Joey Mead-King to judge the girls on their style and flair in a fashion face-off before the ultimate challenge — their first ever ZALORA photoshoot.

The key to owning the look is to really spend some time to understand what works best for your body type.

With the girls being thrown full-throttle into the life of a catalogue model, and shooting 3 looks in just 15 minutes, some girls ultimately rose to the challenge — whilst others crumbled!

Check out the model’s best pictures from the ZALORA photoshoot as seen during the elimination with Georgina Wilson, Joey Mead-King, Meg Mistry and Joel Lim — and learn how you can re-create your very own model worthy looks.

OWN BOHO

If you like laid-back, loose-flowing silhouettes with a touch of metallic and embellishment, then boho is definitely your trend. Rock a smock top and battered leather ankle boots for an off-duty boho vibe, or take inspiration from Valentino who translated the boho look into tiered, floral-emblazoned dresses, suddenly making boho super glamorous and perfect for those Summer parties.

OWN BASICS

Knowing your must-have basics will make styling that much easier and less complicated. Pairing a basic tee with a sequined skirt will automatically make that fashion conscious piece that little more wearable. Throwing a leather jacket over an everyday dress will vamp up your style credentials, and a trusty pair of skinny jeans will always make you feel chic and ready to roll. With your basics nailed you can rest assured that these key pieces will never go out of style — and will stay with you forever.

OWN URBAN

Urban as a general trend theme is rather vague we’ll give you that, but if we told you to not think about your style too much, and look at urban as pretty much a jazzed up version of basics would that make things a little clearer? Give your style some edge and swag with an urban twist of leather, grunge like plaids and well-worn denim. Wear with a slinky pair of stilettos and an abundance of attitude and voila — a la urban chic.

OWN FEMININE

Embrace, highlight and be proud to be a woman when dressing, and certainly only dress for yourself. Feminine cuts like a nipped in waist or boat necked top create a romantically sophisticated look whilst ruffled trims and pastel tones teamed with a pair of barely-there heels constitutes an unabashedly feminine style. Just the way it should be.
